F 17thThe 17th Cavalry was constituted in the Regular Army and organized
July 1, 1916 at On July 1, 1940, the unit was redesigned the 17th Cavalry Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 17th Cavalry consolidated in March 1951 with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 17th Armored Cavalry Group.
